International Society of Hyaluronan Sciences (ISHAS)
At the initiative of Endre A. Balazs and Vincent C. Hascall, at an international meeting on hyaluronan held in Cleveland Ohio, USA in October 2003, twelve senior scientists at the meeting held a round table discussion and agreed on the formation of the International Society of Hyaluronan Sciences (ISHAS). Endre A. Balazs and Vincent C. Hascall incorporated the Society on October 4, 2004. Twenty-three senior scientists from seven countries, all working on hyaluronan, were selected as Founding Members. Torvard Laurent, one of the Founders, was asked to be the Society’s first President.
